Fans of "Alias" and "Contact" should enjoy this thriller. After Jezebel reads a page from an alien manuscript, she wakes with new abilities and ideas. Each page is supposed to be a step on a ladder to raise our civilization to the next level. Instead, greedy companies and corrupt governments are killing each other to control secrets that will guarantee their supremacy for the next century. Strong-willed, smart, and sexy, Jez acquires pages faster than anyone until an invention goes horribly wrong. Now she’s fighting against the clock, powerful enemies, and government cover-up to save the planet.

Jezebels Ladder Scott RhineJezebel is a former magicians assistant who lost everything when her fiancé died. Now she has goons after her that she doesn’t even know about. But someone is watching over her. When she comes face to face with Daniel after almost being killed, and he gives her this strange page to read, she ends up in rehab and is beginning to wonder if she’s in Kansas anymore! So begins an interesting book that is a bit cultish (read this and you’ll understand what its all about) and just a bit scientologist (aliens came to the planet first mantra) -hmm no the book is NOT religious-. Besides being a bit droning on in some places and a bit too scientific for me in others (both of which i just skim till its over) its not a bad book.

Jezebel Ladder eBook Scott Rhine Reviews
I must admit that I've not finished this book (yet). I was so overwhelmed with the details and transitions in the book that I needed to go back and start over. My fault!! I was just reading it too fast. Looking forward to the end. The big IF? Had I been given an opportunity to preview/review the book prior to publication I would have noted it needs more introduction to the main theme of the 'pages'and their unique relationship with the main character.
The concept of "pages" bestowing abilities is an interesting and unique idea. That and the action kept me interested all the way to the end.
The Aliens are watching how we handle a few gifts before deciding if we as a people are worthy...a read that will excite and make you think, plenty of characters to love and fear...there are some great moments and great people who really step up for humanity. This book has more intelectual hero's than i've seen in a long time, and plenty of action to keep things from getting too cerebral. It was an all nighter and well in to the next day, i read this book like a kid eats candy. What are you waiting for!
I loved this book, it was fast paced and interesting it had a bit of romance but wasn't over powering, Jezebel is great. I love that she isn't unbelievable you know .. too smart and too pretty, just too much everything, they explain why shes so perfect so that shes not really. I strongly recommend reading this book, but don't start until you have a good chunk of time to spare because its LOONG but worth it.
Oh boy! I hate ties, but I'm deadlocked between Foundation for the Lost and Jezebel's Ladder as my favorite Rhine book to date.
For a darn reasonable price you get a speculative sci-fi thriller/mystery packed with humor, philosophy, religion, sociology, adult-flavored romance, and of course technology.
Honestly, I'm kind of amazed that he pulled it all off so wonderfully, seeing as most of the science, math, and technical jargon was way over my head! However, the plot just pulls you in and doesn't let go, twisting you around and around in the best way possible in the process. I was amused even when I was confused; that takes talent I tell ya!
Additionally, it was refreshing to see such a strong female protagonist in what I've noticed is a male protagonist dominated genre. Jezebel breaks all the molds and sets a new standard for literary female heros; one that won't deter male readers from enjoying the story at all. (Actually, if I was a man, I'd have a bit of a crush on her.)
Lastly, Sirius Academy is next on my to-read list, and I bet if you follow the easy instructions listed below, it will soon be on your list as well!
So, click the Buy-Now button, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the ride!
The action never stops. The characters are delightful. Jezebel (Jes) finds herself in a dumpster and things start to look up. Brought into an organization after being exposed to an alien artifact called a page, Jes finds herself in the midst of a war between the good of her organization and the evil “others”. Great read.
If you want lots of action this may be the book for you.
I think discussion of this book has to come in two parts, the delivery and the content. Delivery first this is a very well-written book. The plot is internally consistent, the pacing is appropriate, the grammar and vocabulary are top notch, the McGuffin is inventive, and the science is plausible. If the content appeals to you then you will find no barrier to your enjoyment in the delivery. The author is clearly a professional writer and knows his work.
The content did not appeal to me very much. This is an adventure that features a lot of wish-fulfillment, quickly making the protagonist the most powerful character with virtually no effort on her part. The secondary character has magical sex; I'm grateful it was not described in any detail. (I'd rate the book at most PG-13.) The characters take a back seat to the action, although I must add the action seems realistic (in the areas not touched by the McGuffin) and quite well-described. The opening of the book was promising in the area of character development, but that dwindled by the end of chapter one. Once the characters have a one-note back story the character development stops cold.
If you enjoy the book the good news is that there are two sequels.
